ToTanem Artifex 5

Another crossover with the Wednesday Wizards painting stunt at the Minismith's Forge blog, this time is a new ToTanem Artifex. I had to dig through my painted ToTanem minis to find the previous Artifex minis I've painted. This guy is number 5?!

He was based on a 25mm base because he just seemed too cramped on a 20mm. I used a bit of cobblestone mat that I think came from a cheap Xmas Village line of products to make the base a little fancier.

The painting was pretty straightforward. It had been some time since I used greens for a ToTanem's rock skin, so I thought I should give this guy some greenish--grey skin. I decided to make his hammer some fancy white material- it's magic.

The newest Artifex with a ToTanem Harbinger and young Scribe Shefdu.

This newest Artifex joins the previous Artifexes. The first Artifex was a Reaper female dwarf who, at the time, seemed like a good proxy since there was not yet an official Artifex sculpt. Her lore was that she was a City Dweller Artifex, but just with regular Artifex stats. Next came the ToTanem with the pistol, converted from a regular warrior with a GW pistol. I'm not sure if the Artifex with the anvil or the official Artifex sculpt came next, but I like them both, especially the glowing metal on the anvil.

Nekharu Torturer and ToTanem Harbinger

Before Adepticon I got these two finished, the Harbinger for the loaner warband I was taking in case someone without minis wanted to play in the "Big Trouble in Crocodiliopolis" game and the Nekharu Torturer for my Isis warband in case I was needed to fill a slot for the game.

Long long ago I converted a Coven Witch sculpt to be a Torturer- it was okay but I've grown to dislike it in that role (he's got a polearm). This Torturer is a very slight conversion of the official mini (I removed the knife from his left hand and replaced it with a feather because I thought it would be cool as a torture tool).

Here's a slightly blurry picture of the Torturer with the converted Flesh Hulk (using a metal Reaper mini and parts of an old plastic Warhammer zombie) I did very long ago.

My ToTanem are nearly "complete" but I have never done a Harbinger for them (I have used a City-Dweller Harbinger for them in the past). But Adepticon was the perfect deadline to force me to focus on the ToTanem Harbinger. The shield replaced his fancy stick because I've wanted to do that conversion for a very long time. I think it turned out pretty good with the sorta marble effect.

ToTanem Caravaneers

The Caravan needed some non-Asar members. I decided a couple of ToTanem artisans would be good additions.

This was the first conversion. I took his sword blade off and gave him a small hammer, the better to use on his anvil (I didn't make an anvil for him). I'm not sure what he's mad about, but he's giving someone the business.

This guy needed a chisel so I used some plastic rod and greenstuff to fashion a nice little chisel. I also filed off the peg and strap for his shield.

And here are the new guys with the caravan.

WMM '20 - Spears (Part 1)

Lots of minis with spears (broadly defined to fit all the figures together with a theme) this time...

First up, some To-Tanem Spearmen conversions. This guy was the hammerer standard bearer. I took off the standard and added a plastic GW spear bit from skeletons, I think. His shield is one from Forge of Ice, because I got a bunch of them and wanted some variation for the spearman unit.

This next To-Tanem got another plastic spear bit added to the handle of his hammer. His shield is one of the blanks from Crocodile games. To make him look a little less like the hammer-wielding guy I've already got a couple of in the Hammer unit, I gave him a poorly sculpted hat. His chest strap thing blends into his skin too much in these pictures.

Below we've got a couple other To-Tanem spear conversions- these were all started roughly the same time (far too long ago!) and since have been joined by some actual To-Tanem spearmen sculpts from Crocodile Games.

Here we've got a Copplestone cavewoman who got a polearm and a shield from Crocodiel Games. She's been partially painted for far too long so I knew I had to finish her now or melt her down for scrap.

Above we have the Spearwoman with a Dark Fable mini and a converted Crocodile Games priestess. Below the Spearwoman is meeting with the Sleazy Merchant from Forge of Ice and his little Goblinoid friend from Dark Fable.

This guy is from West Wind's Lucifer's War range of minis. I liked the look of him to be used in my stalled out Babylonian Warband project.
Even though the wings for these figures from West Wind all seem to be the same piece, I like them.

Below we've got the latest Babylonian Sorcerer next to the first one for he Babylonian Warband.

Finally we've got the Battlescythe Asar Blade Dancer from Crocodile Games. Another great sculpt by Chris Fitzpatrick...
Below we've got the Battlescythe Blade Dancer with the Double-Sword Blade Dancer. I feel like the older painted one may need a touch up with some more color for the cloth- but maybe not.

WarGods Minis Month'13 Update 10

A little from Ægyptus and Olympus this time- a ToTanem Artifex (Crocodile Games) and a Female Centaur Archer (Foundry).

Above- a comparison shot with a Wargames Factory Amazon. Below- a comparison with a Crocodile Games Satyr.

The Kickstarter has ended but WarGods Minis Month might still have a few more figures left...
