Varied Batch of Objective Markers (6 of 'em)

In the endless quest to finish up painting minis that were started in previous epochs, I focused my energies on these objective markers. These are from various manufacturers and one scratchbuilt piece, these should help clutter up the table and provide interesting results in scenarios focused on collecting things. 

From Crocodile Games, we start off with the giant skull scarab. I was originally going to go with a white carapace but changed  my mind since I recently got a few color shifting metallic paints (Folk Art from Michael's).

Next is a pile of bones of unknown origin (maybe from the Conan miniature board game?), this was simply washed and dry brushed layers. It is a really nice piece.

For comparison we have the Scorpion Priestess conversion. The bone pile would've fit very snugly on a 20mm base so I decided to go with a 25mm so it wouldn't look so cramped.

This market base is generously called scratchbuilt. It's simply a 25mm base with 5 cheapo metal beads glued down together. I have a lot of these beads that I should really get to work on gluing down for more of these...

For these comparisons we've got the delightful Sleazy Merchant from Forge of Ice.

From Crocodile Games  is this Bastet cat statue. It was basically completed aside from some touch up work, but I decided to use some of the black metallic color shifting paint to make it look a little more fancy. It was a light dry brushing that doesn't show up well in the pictures.

For the comparison pictures we've brought back the Scorpion Priestess. 

Next up is a resin figure from Raging Heroes. This is the Iron Empire mascot Jinx, but I'm unrestrained by what the original manufacturer intended- they can't stop me. I started Jinx at the same time as the Bastet statue above because they are almost the same pose. I love the little rat Jinx has caught, it's a nice touch.

For the comparison pics we've got the Scorpion Priestess again. While I was editing the pictures I thought the statue was Jinx for a second, they look so similar at a glance.

Finally is this awesome little Leaping Boar Statue from Forge of Ice. I really like this little guy and should have gotten more of them to do in a variety of colors.

Another Black Quill and some Scroll Objectives

I got these scrolls from Last Stand Convertibles, they make lots of interesting bits for scenery and conversions. It was one of those "I don't have any specific ideas right now, but I'm sure these will be useful sometime" purchases. I've used a couple on some conversions but then it hit me these would be great as some objective markers. PLUS I could make another Kekooee Seshket (Black Quill) for no particular reason.

These were tossed together with minimal planning then primed and left overnight. The painting went pretty quick.

Below we have the newest Kekooee Seshket/Black Quill with a scroll and a scroll tube.

I cannot paint too many specific hieroglyphs with a paintbrush at this small a size, but I try to make them look vaguely like something. 

These could be magical scrolls, reference scrolls, or even great works by Shefdu Sootootma himself.

Shefdu and an unnamed scribe prepare to consult the scrolls for some reason or other...

Here we have a Tomb Raider of some kind looking at some new treasure to loot...

Trio of Undead- Lion, Queen, and Ancient Vampire

Three minis to join the ever-growing hordes of the undead.

From Dark Fable's line of miniatures is a skeletal lion.

Next up is a miniature from an old RPG supplement. She's an Undead Queen on a 25mm base because she had an integral base of a tomb floor.

Finally, from Pulp Alley comes their "Apophis" figure. I mounted him on a resin scenic ruins base. I painted him with the thought of using him as an ancient vampire or sorcerer of some kind.

S'syth Lord Muusmahtua Winged Serpent

From a time long before Aegyptian civilization comes the S'syth, ancient malevolent serpent beings seeking to regain lost glories as rulers of the Antediluvian world- at least in the fluff of WarGods. Ever since the mind-blowing reveal at the end of the Akhenaten Heresy World Campaign I've wanted to do some S'syth. This slight conversion (really just the addition of the wings) has been sitting partly painted for quite a long while.

The wings come from an old Celtos Dwarf Valkyrie mini. I wanted to have this monster evoke images of the Wedjet (winged cobra) but in a more disturbing way. 

The miniature itself is an old Ral Partha figure. It has a solid base that proved too difficult to remove so I used a chariot style base (50x100mm) with some textured paint and chunks of ruined temple bases to hide the original base. You might notice the slight slope around the S'syth now that you know what to look for.

I thought it would be fitting to show Muusmahtua with one of the "Priest of Aten Revealed" event minis from that awesome GenCon Campaign Finale.

And here we have Tebbi and Blackclaw getting mixed up with the S'syth Lord- that would be a pretty interesting fight.
