WarGods Minis Month 2024- Part 5

WarGods Minis M9nth has been going for a bit with a few updates already. But April (and a few days either side of it) is only the beginning, the next phase comes in August and the finale comes in October. This time we have four minis painted, all ignored partially painted figures that needed a bit of focus to push through to the finish line.

First is an Asar warrior with sword and shield. Originally planned as a skirmish character, he was also potentially a test model for a unit of sword and shield. But I don't like the red armor for a generic Asar unit. We'll see.

Next is another scorpion-themed Mistress of Words. This one is a Reaper figure with a plastic spear and feather contraption to make her a bit more MoW-like.

Then we have an unreleased mini-titan that is pretty cool. I mounted him on a 30mm square base. How will he be used, that's a problem for future me to worry about. I think there was an earlier concept for smaller Titans that would be herded by a minder as another optional meat shield for a Titan warband.

This last guy is a cool chunk of metal, Dienikes the Spartan. I'm not a big Spartan fan, but this guy looked so cool I had to paint one up. I think his cape came out pretty good.

Harpy, Blade Dancer, and Asar Champion

Another mix of various WarGods minis completed. This time with a couple of touchups on previously painted figures too.

The first touchup is a lowly horde mummy originally painted in metallics as a weird experiment. I simply gave his wrappings and kilt some non-metallic colors to make him fit in a little better with the rest of the horde.

This next touchup on the Serpent Blades Blade Dancer was to brighten up her clothes a bit, there was also a little attention to her hair. While I was working on the new Blade Dancer below, I saw this one was really dark. Now she's brighter and fits with her sisters more.

First of the newly painted, this Asar Champion (or Hero) is one of those who've languished primed and partially painted for quite some time. It was fated for him to be completed to make room for other long-ignored miniatures to get their chance to feel colorful paint soon.

Then we've got my first Harpy. She's a test piece but I think they'll all have slightly different color schemes. I do like the pale blueish skin, though, that will probably b the most unifying theme.

Finally we get to one of the recently released new Blade Dancer sculpts. I think she turned out pretty good, and Fitz always sculpts great lady miniatures.

Here's the new one with her other two completed Blade Dancers. I've got the other new sculpt (the Serpent Blades alternate) and I plan to convert another of the old sculpts into the one with Crook and Flail, some day.

And the first part of WarGods Minis Month 2024 continues...

Some Basti Camp Followers

I love almost all of the Basti figures from Crocodile Games. I've got tons of Camp Followers even though I don't really have a desire to field a Basti Harbinger. I just really love painting the sculpts. So I painted up these three (I've painted all but the male before) because I wanted to paint some fun Basti figures.

First up is the Wagon Driver. I was dreading his skirt, but a couple thin light grey coats followed by a dark wash to bring out the stripe dividers made adding the green stripes a relative breeze.

Next the Poser Girl, I've come to use a more yellowish skin tone for most of my Basti lately instead of the mix of colors I used to go with for variety. I think it's because the miniatures themselves look so nice that I want to try not to really distract from the sculpt.

Finally is the Courtesan. Her shawl or towel or whatever it's supposed to be is always (I think I've painted two of her before this one) something I feel like I should put a design on, yet I never do. Still, I think she turned out pretty good.

Two Satyr Heroes

Both sculpted by Ben Siens, but only the one with the jug of booze is from Crocodile Games. They're both nice figures that I enjoyed painting.

First up is the guy on a 25mm base who may be used as an optional Demigod of Dionysus. I went with the bigger base mainly for a better and more stable fit, though. I kinda don't like his bow, but when he was assembled I didn't have a better alternative.

Next is the official Satyr hero from Crocodile Games. I've avoided putting this guy together before now because he just seemed too complicated. Well he went together so easily and painted up so smoothly that I really want another (maybe give him a bow in place of the blade). He had to be blonde because 'blondes have more fun.'

I thought it would be interesting to see these newest Satyrs with the Demigods they would follow in a game.

Now that I've gotten these two finished, I feel like I should start work on another unit of Satyrs for an Artemis Warband I've been theorizing for some time. I want to do a sort of Wild Hunt Artemis Amazon warband. The Demigodess would be mounted on a stag (I've got a  line on a promising stag mini) and there would, of course, be a unit of Amazon Raiders and Outriders. The Amazon Spearwomen with the Horse Widows unit theme would give them extra movement. I'm not sure if Amazon peltasts or archers would be best, but I know a unit of Satyrs will definitely be there. And I'd like to get a unit of Centaurs in the Warband as well. I have no idea how they would do in a game,  but they will definitely look excellent when assembled on the tabletop.
